5# Abstract Fruit
#5 Abstract Fruit
WHAT
A fun and relaxing controlled doodle that resembles patterns found in cut fruit such as figs.
YOU WILL NEED:
A fine black felt-tip pen (berol or similar), a small brush and water, cartridge paper (or your sketchbook)
INSTRUCTIONS:
PART ONE
Take a few moments to gather together the materials you will need. Clear a space on your table or desk. Take three deep breaths. In through the nose and out the mouth. This exercise is similar to #1 Peacocks and Shells but introduces the addition of a squiggle pattern.
- Starting near the centre of the page, draw an elongated ellipse with a single line. Keep the line flowing and draw a similar ellipse within the first one and repeat until you have split your ellipse into three sections
- Continue to draw more stretched ellipses (each split into three sections using smooth flowing lines) until your page feels nicely populated.
- Using a continuous squiggle add pattern to the central band on each ellipse shape..
- Add a solid seed in the centre of each ellipse and shade in
- Further define your cluster by shading in the areas between the ‘fruits’.
