6# Stipple Drips
#6 Stipple Drips
WHAT
A fun doodle built from drips and stipple dots.
YOU WILL NEED:
A fine black felt-tip pen (berol or similar), a small brush and water, cartridge paper (or your sketchbook)
INSTRUCTIONS:
PART ONE
Take a few moments to gather together the materials you will need. Clear a space on your table or desk. Take three deep breaths. In through the nose and out the mouth.
- Starting near the centre of the page, draw a drip shape, starting at the point, swinging down in to a soft curve and linking back up with the starting point..
- Lift your pen and move another area of the paper and draw another drip making sure it connects with the first.
- Repeat instruction 2 varying the size and shape of the drips until your page feels full.
- Now revisit each of your shapes and add a second drip shape within each drip.
- Within the larger drips add a third drip.
- Using a series of gentle dots, stipple a dotty background pattern in a slow and controlled rhythmic manor. Don’t forget to breathe.
